Alex is a globally seasoned executive with 30 years of experience leading transformation, scaling growth and building high-performance organisations across continents and cultures. With over a decade of leadership development experience, including five years as an INSEAD faculty member, he now focuses on developing senior leaders who are shaping the future of their industries.
Alex takes an integrated approach to leadership development, drawing on a range of techniques and tools. He frequently uses the Phoenix Encounter Method; a structured yet creative approach enabling leaders to re-imagine the future, explore a range of strategic options, and develop practical pathways forward.
Alex has led diverse, high-performing businesses, including as Global Head of Accessories at Nokia (where he grew the global mobile device category to $10bn) and as Chief Commercial Officer at Rovio (Angry Birds), where he again drove a successful turnaround.
Alex is originally Dutch, grew up in Africa, South America and the UK, and has since lived in Finland, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia and Denmark.
